Who are Catechists?
Lay members of the parish who are approved to teach CCD (CCD stands for Confraternity of
Christian Doctrine = Religious Education).
What do Catechists do?

Teach weekly CCD classes after becoming trained, certified and approved by
DRE (Director of Religious Education)
Catechists must attend required training as determined by Diocese.
Catechists teach weekly CCD classes from September through Easter.
Classes are 90 minutes in length. All teaching materials are provided by DRE.
Catechists must be confirmed and practical Catholic.
